Stage fright...(poem)

Stage fright

I hid in the shadows; I was afraid
What would I do? What would they say?
Where could I run to? Could I get free?
What would I do if they all saw me?

Instead, I stayed. The time was near
They announced my name, loud and clear
My heart beated faster, my throat had dried
‘I couldn’t leave now,’ I quietly sighed

The curtains were opened, the crowd was revealed
I heard the applause, but I kept my eyes peeled
For the ideal moment, the perfect way
To leave this place, I could not stay

My legs turned to jelly, I could not walk
My hands were shaking, and I could not talk
I began to tremble, overpowered by dread
The fear was too much, I clutched my head

The clapping resided, and all became still
The people were waiting, but I felt so ill
The room began spinning, it couldn’t be stopped
And then came the terrible moment I dropped

I wish that my fright would just disappear;
The next show’s not too far from here.
I have to fight it, I have to win,
Before it totally draws me in…

When some people try to rhyme they don't get the rhythm, and it doesn't sound right but that was just perfect..! I loved it..!
