Callie's POV
I woke up to my phone vibrating on my bed. Damn. It must have been on all night, which would definitely have run down my battery. I looked to see that it was a text from my boyfriend, Chris. I opened it to see this:

I smiled, but I was kinda yawning at the same time, so I must have looked pretty stupid. I texted back, then checked the time and saw that I didn't have to be up for another 20 mintues, but if I went to sleep, I'd be more tired when I woke up. So I got out of bed, pulled back the curtains, then went to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, then undressed and hopped into the shower.

After showering, I lotioned and put on a plain white t-shirt, skinny jeans, and my black dolly shoes. I put on my black half-sleeved cardigan and tied my hair into a small bun at the back, leaving a side-fringe. I squirted myself with some perfume Chris got me; Elizabth Arden's 'Fifth Avenue'. I stood back, looking at myself in the mirror before going downstairs to get some breakfast.

Mom was already downstairs- she leaves the house before I do.

Mom: Oh, you're early. I looked at the time and realised I'd forgotten to wake you up. I thought you'd be late.
Callie: Oh, it's fine. Chris woke me up.
Mom: Chris? Is he here?
Callie: Oh, no, don't worry. He sent me a text.
Mom: Oh, good. You know how I feel about boys staying overnight. Not allowed.
Callie: I know. But you know you can trust Chris, right?
Mom: As long as you do, I have no problem with him.
I grabbed a slice of toast from mom's plate. She was already getting out of her seat, so I knew she was done eating.
Mom: I've got to go. See you later, honey.
She planted a kiss on my cheek as she left, leaving me in alone in the kitchen, eating toast. My phone vibrated again. It was another message from Chris.

I replied once again and got up to put the plate in the sink. I got a cup of orange juice, then went to get my stuff ready for when Chris arrived. I loved having someone like him...

Okay, I'll try and come up with something today...

This is for you, Abi, for saying I'm lazy. And to anyone else who's reading, coz I like you.

The doorbell rang, and I went to open the door, picking up my bag on the way.

Chris: Hey
Me: Hey yourself.
Chris: I hope I didn't wake you up this morning...
Me: It's okay, I needed the extra time. I actually had more than a handful of cornflakes today.
Chris:

I closed the door behind me, and we made the short walk to Chris's car.

Me: So what do you have to do at school?
Chris: Oh, just some stuff...
I hate it when he's vague.
Chris: ...I just need to talk to my English teacher about my essay...
Me: Late again?
Chris: ... yeah, I guess...
Me:

Don't get me wrong, he does his work. It's just that sometimes he puts
other things first, so his homework piles up a bit. But he gets it done
in the end. He's a good boy with a bit of a naughty streak in him. But believe me, I'm not complaining.

Chris: I've got ball practice after school so you'll have to catch a ride with someone else.
Me: Okay.
Chris: Sorry.
Me: it's fine, I'll walk.
Chris: Walk?
Me: It's only 20 minutes. Just 'cause I let you drive me to school in the morning, it doesn't mean that I can't walk.
Chris: I know.
Me: Look, I'll be walking home in broad daylight. It's not like I'll
get kidnapped. And I'm not gonna get sun-dust in my eyes and run
off with some guy to some magical place.
Chris: Be serious. If you're gonna walk, go with Bri.
Me: Bri?
I scrunched my face in disgust. Bri - or Brianna - was my ex
best friend. We were 'besties' until she decided to be a b!tch and try
to steal Chris from me, before trying to spread sh*t about me too. I
doubted that she was fully to blame, but I stuck with Chris
nevertheless, and ditched her. She found a group of equally
low-levelled girls to hang around with, and we've kept our distance
ever since.

Chris: Oh, my bad. What about Sam?
Me: She's got a rehearsal after school.
Chris: For what?
Me: Some dance thing.
Chris: Can't you wait?
Me: It finishes the same time as your thing, so there's no point...Maybe I could wait for you?
A smile spread across my face at the thought. Chris was such a natural, it was great watching him play.
Chris: No.
The smile vanished.
Me: Why not?
Chris: It's a closed practice today. Coach said it's better when we don't have an audience.
Me: (mumbling) Whatever.
Chris: What?
Whoops.
Me: (quietly) I said whatever.

Chris frowned, but he let it go. He hates it when I answer back. He
says it's rude and unnecessary. We arrived at school, and I got out so
he could go to the car park. It's more convenient, coz the car park is
a small distance away from the main entrance, where I go in.

Chris: See you later.
Me: Yeah.
I closed the door and he drove off.
